Help us by reporting any maintenance defects in your room

Our maintenance and housekeeping staff help us to keep the facilities well maintained. Help us by reporting any maintenance defects in your room as well as in the shared areas.

Emergency vs Non-Emergency

Urgent Maintenance Issues

Urgent, or emergency maintenance issues include anything that poses a threat to your physical well-being or security. These include:

  • Complete loss of power (must include lights).
  • Major leaks.
  • Severe flooding.
  • Loss of heating during cold weather.
  • Security issues: broken doors/windows/locks.
  • Fire safety concerns.

Please contact Safeguarding in the event of any emergency maintenance issue!

Non-Urgent maintenance Issues

Any maintenance issue that does not immediately threaten your security or physical health is classed as non-urgent. These include:

  • Partial loss of power (tripped fuse, sockets not working).
  • Drainage blockages.
  • Minor leaks.
  • Broken hob/oven.
  • Kitchen appliances not working.

Please note, although a broken fridge/freezer is not considered an urgent maintenance issue, the team will respond to a broken fridge/freezer by the next working day, so your food doesn’t spoil!

Please report any non-urgent maintenance issues to BordersHalls@hw.ac.uk
