How to spend Valentine's Day with your flatmates

Platonic pal plans

Valentine's Day is fast approaching (or might already be here depending on when you are reading this) but if you are not in a relationship, there's no need to let the day get you down - in fact, this is the perfect time to share the love with your friends and flatmates!

Here are some great ways to sack off V Day traditions and celebrate your friendships instead:

Events on campus

From free food and games nights to other celebrations like Chinese Lunar New Year and Pancake Day, there's lots of events to get stuck into over the next couple of weeks in halls and on campus!

Things you can do in the flat

Movie Marathon Night - Create a cosy atmosphere in your living room and have a movie marathon. Choose a mix of genres – maybe some classic romantic comedies for the occasion, but also include other favourites that everyone enjoys. Don't forget the pillows and blankets!

Bake/Cook Together - Plan a special baking session to make some delicious treats. You could try making heart-shaped pizzas, or bake and decorate Valentine-themed cookies or cupcakes. Cooking together is not only fun but also a great way to bond.

DIY Craft Night - Get creative and organise a DIY craft night. You can make personalised cards for each other/friends and family or create something for the flat. It's a relaxing and productive way to spend an evening.

Game Night - Host a game night with board games, card games, or video games. You can make it interesting by adding a Valentine's twist to the games, for example, playing charades with romantic movie titles or love songs. Or skip the love theme and go full murder mystery - fun!

Themed Dinner Party - Set the table, dress up in a fancy fit and host an amazing dinner party with all your flatmates. Everyone can contribute by bringing a dish and you can theme it however you like. You could even go for an anti-Valentines theme if you're really not feeling the lovey-dovey vibes this year.

So whether you want to have a chill night in with your flatmates or go all out, there's plenty to do around Valentine's Day.
