Step 1 - Apply online
Visit the university’s accommodation portal and set up an account using your student ID (starting H00…). Choose your preferred halls and room types (up to two options). Once submitted, you’ll receive an email confirming your application..
Step 2 - Accept your offer (from July onwards)
Offers are sent from July, but only after your place becomes firm (unconditional or conditional firm). You’ll have 48 hours (two days) to accept or decline your room online. Remember: only ONE offer is available unless you’re waitlistedHeriot-Watt Universi.
Step 3 - Pay advance rent (within 48 hours of accepting)
After accepting, you’ll need to pay a 4-week rent deposit via the portal OR by using a bank transfer through Convera (just include your H‑number)
. If payment isn’t received in time, your offer may be cancelled.
Step 4 - Complete induction and book arrival slot
Log in to the portal again to complete a brief online induction. During this, you'll book your arrival slot, which generates a digital arrival pass. Make sure you have it saved on your phone for easy access.
Step 5 - Move in!
On your arrival day, take your pass and ID to the main reception on campus (there will be plenty of signs and people to help point you in the right direction). This is where you’ll receive your keys for accommodation and any final details to get you settled in.

- Guaranteed accommodation? Yes, new full-time students receive priority (if they have applied before 23 June 2025)
- Can part-time students apply? No, only full-time students are eligible
- What if I miss the payment window? Your offer may be withdrawn, so set a reminder!
