It's time to get cosy🧣
Autumn is in full swing, which means colder and darker nights, so it's important to be able to keep yourself warm. There's lots of easy ways to warm up at home without having to rely on the heating.
- Layers, layers, layers – lots of thin layers can sometimes trap heat better than one thick layer. Throw on a hoodie over your t-shirt, add some fluffy socks and a dressing gown.
- Put the kettle on – whether you prefer tea, coffee or comforting hot chocolate, hot drinks can help to warm you up from the inside (and are a great excuse for a study break).
- Hot water bottles – while the kettle is on, why not make a hot water bottle? They can stay warm for hours, pop it in your bed 10 minutes before you get in or keep one on your lap while studying. You can order an affordable hot water bottle from Amazon or head to the local shops.
- Trap in the heat – when the heating is on, make sure to keep doors closed so you're not letting any heat out, and roll up a towel as a makeshift draught excluder for your windows.
- Get active – sitting still for too long can make you feel cold, try to move around regularly, if you don't enjoy going to the gym, even walking around your room can boost your circulation and keep your body temperature up.
- Share the warmth – sometimes the best way to stay warm is to hang out with friends, think movie nights or cooking together, anything that gets more bodies in the room. Plus, you'll end up having a great night!
There's so many little tips and tricks to stay warm and save energy at the same time. So before you reach for the radiator, try a few of these sustainable hacks to stay cosy!
