Want to head into the capital from Galashiels? It's easy!
By train 🚊
One of the quickest ways to get to Edinburgh city centre is by train. Galashiels railway station is around a half an hour walk or 20-minute bus journey from Borders campus.
From the station, the train journey usually takes 50 minutes to an hour, only costing around £25-£30 for a return. Tickets can be bought on the ScotRail website, ScotRail app or at the station.
By bus 🚌
There are also direct bus services from Galashiels to Edinburgh – the X62 or X95 Borders bus that originate from Edinburgh Bus Station. Bus journeys to the city centre tend to take around 1.5 / 2 hours.
Alternatively, the university operate a shuttle bus between Scottish Borders and Edinburgh campus, twice daily on weekdays, so you could use the shuttle bus to get to Edinburgh campus and travel into the city centre from here. Just make sure you book a space at least 24 hours in advance by emailing borders.shuttle@hw.ac.uk.
