Located just 6 miles from the Edinburgh campus, it's so easy to travel to and from the city centre by public transport.
By bus 🚌
Time: 30-40 minutes
A number of Lothian buses run from the Edinburgh campus to and from the city every 10 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes after 8pm. Here's Aditya's step-by-step guide to getting the bus into the city:
- Walk from your accommodation to the bus stand near the reception, or to the one at The Avenue near Leonard Horner Halls.
- Get on the 25 Lothian bus and tap your forex card when you get on – you can also get the number 34 and 35 which come less frequently.
- There's lots of bus stops in the city centre, so you can choose to get off wherever you like.
- Going back to campus? Hop on the 25 Lothian bus from Princes Street (Stop PP).
Top tip: most of the buses have screens so you can view the stops coming up, so keep an eye out to see when you need to get off.
If you're under 22, you can also apply for FREE bus travel with the Young Persons' Free Bus Travel Scheme!
By bike 🚲
Time: Around 1 hour
More of a cyclist? You can cycle to and from the city centre using a variety of routes, just make sure that you are being safe on the roads. This is the main route from Edinburgh campus, however if you want a more scenic route, you can also ride along the canal.
So what are you waiting for? Go and explore the city!
