Rilian from Seattle tells us why she's loving SBC

Visiting student Rilian tells us her top three favourite things that she has done so far this semester.

Rilian is completing her bachelors degree at Central Washington University, USA in Apparel, Textiles and Merchandising and has come to Heriot-Watt’s Scottish Borders Campus, Galashiels to learn more in-depth fashion design and make. She is here for one semester (Fall) and making the most of her studies and leisure time in Scotland.

Rillian says “I’m having so much fun with my project. I’m getting to learn so much about how to construct a pattern and how to make a dress from start to finish.”

Rilian’s top three favourite things that she has done so far are:

1. Cafe Recharge pay what you can surplus food café. “lots of community things going on and books you can read… a really cosy space”
2. Scrap store in Selkirk “cheap and lots of amazing crafts”
3. Doughnut tour “learnt so much rich history and ate many amazing donuts”
