Insights for International Students

University life can be exciting, challenging, and everything in between β€” especially when you’re far from home, adapting to a new culture, and finding your balance.

Join an open, friendly conversation with Srihari Vallabhajousula, surgeon at Borders General Hospital, and Dr Vikas Das Mahesh, GP, as they share personal insights, hints, and tips on how to thrive while living in the Scottish Borders.

This session welcomes international students of all backgrounds, faiths, and worldviews (including none) to share experiences and advice on: 🌍 Adjusting to winter in Scotland – staying positive, healthy, and connected 🏑 Making the most of life in Galashiels – finding community, culture, and local activities 🧘 Maintaining wellbeing and balance – learning from different cultural and faith perspectives 🀝 Supporting one another – building understanding and friendship across differences

A safe, inclusive space to share stories, listen, and connect over what matters most in student life.

Why join? ✨ Meet people from around the world 🧠 Reflect on wellbeing and purpose β˜• Enjoy some pizza and relaxed discussion

All students are welcome β€” no faith or background required. Let’s celebrate community, understanding, and wellbeing at Heriot-Watt.
