Here's the departure checklist:

  • Remove all belongings from bedroom and kitchen and dispose of rubbish in appropriate areas
  • Turn off electrical appliances and lights
  • Set radiator valve to 1 or below
  • Lock your bedroom door and close windows
  • Report any damage prior to departure through the QR code in your kitchen
  • Collect any parcels
  • Return your keys/key card/mailbox keys

There is an assisted clean of communal areas and kitchens.

Students are expected to maintain cleanliness in their own bedrooms, kitchens and communal areas.

Inspections of student's bedrooms are carried out twice during the contract to ensure these standards are being maintained. If additional cleaning or damage is found upon departure charges may apply.

There are no additional storage facilities available at the Edinburgh Campus.

Should you require storage, as an option, we recommend Big Yellow Self Storage Edinburgh or Flexistore.

Place quality clothing/textiles in British Heart Foundation bins (no bedding). If the British Heart Foundation bin is full, bag and label them, and leave them in your room.

Quality household items can be dropped to the entrance to your hall and the Chaplaincy will collect and offer these to new incoming students.

Unopened, in-date food can be left in bin provided the entrance to your hall and will be donated to local food banks.

Unfortunately, we cannot extend stays past the end date of the contract.

The campus closes for essential maintenance and cleaning and for the completion of our legal Health and Safety requirements in time for the next intake of students.

Your tenancy is a fixed-term, legally binding contract with a specified start and end date.

Unfortunately, we cannot cancel your contract if you decide to vacate early, you will remain liable for the rent until the end date of your contract.

To review the contract, you accepted online prior to your arrival, please log in to your accommodation account at: https://accommodation.hw.ac.uk/

If you do decide to vacate early, please return your keys to the Main Reception and kindly ensure that you fully clear your room and kitchen area of all belongings and rubbish.

As you pack up and say goodbye to halls, don’t forget to check off the departure checklist.

And most importantly, have an amazing summer!
